De Scott Evans

I was browsing the web the other day and I came across an American artist I had not heard of before, De Scott Evans (1847-1898). I particularly love his trompe l'oeil painting of a parrot, how beautifully portrayed and the broken glass adds a striking subtlety. He was clearly a fan of Dutch 17th Century painting, recalling the work of Carel Fabritius, Vermeer and Gerard Terborch. More information about him can be viewed at HERE

Homage to a Parrot, ca. 1890, oil on canvas, 51 x 40.5 cm.

The Connoisseur, 1887, oil on canvas, 110 x 61 cm.
